Sinotruk production starts at Steyr Automotive

Steyr, March 3, 2026 – Steyr Automotive has started production of Sinotruk trucks based on a contract manufacturing agreement concluded between the two companies. Diesel-powered and fully electric models in various versions are being produced at Steyr.

The first vehicle was completed on 3 March 2026. Initially, assembly will be carried out using SKD construction methods. As production volumes increase, there are plans to expand to CKD production, which will also include cab manufacturing and painting in Steyr. The workforce will be expanded gradually as volumes and added value increase.

The collaboration includes the provision of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, infrastructure, and capacities at the Steyr site for the production of vehicles for the EMEA region.
